About Lori

Name: Lori

Favorite job that I've worked:
Private Music Instructor / Music Technician

Worst job that I've worked:
3rd shift iron foundry on the "shaker" crew

Favorite food: Toss up between a fresh lobster and a medium rare steak fresh from the charcoal grill

Most unusual job that I've worked:
I worked with in a candy factory that made Willy Wonka candy, but never got to meet an Oompa Loompa nor see anything else fascinating. Oh, I did take of with a traveling pipeline company and went to Independence, Kansas

What a job!

My life has taken me from a carnival worker to iron foundry...
Music instructor to Lighting Lab tech...
Industrial Engineering Assistant to Executive Admin.

I've drawn from my life to create my first published book of poetry "Poetry Carnival" (which you will see to the left).

From traveling with a carnival, a couple bad relationships and a couple of wrecks that I should not have survived... there is a poem for everything and everyone in the Poetry Carnival"

This book is print on demand.  To view it, visit: www.authorhouse.com and title search "Poetry Carnival" or author search: Lori S. Maynard.  You can obtain the ISBN # of the book at this site and order it from any book store

As far as where I am from - I grew up in a small town in east central Indiana.  My youth was spent walking the plowed cornfields looking for arrowheads and fishing in small ponds.

I used to think that the small town life was hell until I left that small town to find even smaller ones.  I became greatful for what my little town did have to offer and what it had taught me.  Currently, I still value the small town life, but no longer live near my home town.  It's really amazing how strange your hometown can feel even if you're gone for a year.  It feels as though I never lived there.

In my spare time, I like to shoot pool.  I used to be a tournament player in the 90's; however, I've been away from it for quite some time now and am slowly regaining confidence.  I own 3 cues: a McDermott, Players (both 19oz.) and a OCC (Orange County Choppers) novelty cue (20oz.)

I'm just a simple woman with no great expectations from life nor great dreams in life.  I live as I live.
